Why Beeline Design Furniture is Built to Last: A Guide to Caring for Your Timber and Veneer Pieces

Flow Table being used in family home

At Beeline Design, we often hear from clients who love our furniture but feel hesitant to use it every day for fear of damaging the finish. As a parent of two young children who have little regard for dining table etiquette, I completely understand this concern! It’s a common worry, especially when choosing a dining table for a busy family home. But here’s the good news: we design our furniture with longevity in mind, and we’ve carefully selected materials and finishes that are durable enough to withstand everyday life. Plus, we’ve tested it all ourselves!

Durability Built into Every Piece: Timber and Veneer Finishes

For our timber and veneer furniture, we use a hard-wearing matte oil finish that was originally designed for flooring applications. This finish is specially formulated to endure heavy use, meaning it's built to last under the pressures of daily family life, whether it's spills, scratches, or even the occasional kiddo-induced mishap. The matte oil finish offers a layer of protection while allowing the natural beauty of the wood to shine through. It’s designed to stand the test of time, so you can enjoy your Beeline Design furniture without the constant worry of ruining the finish.

Furniture That’s Meant to Be Used: Repairable and Sustainable Design

When we say we don’t do disposable furniture, we mean it. Our pieces are designed to be both timeless and repairable. If anything happens—whether it's a scratch, dent, or part that needs replacing—we’ve made it easy to restore your furniture without compromising its integrity. This focus on long-term durability and sustainability is at the heart of our design philosophy.

Caring for Your Beeline Design Furniture: Simple Maintenance Tips

We want you to feel confident using your Beeline Design furniture every day, which is why we include detailed care instructions with every piece we send out. For our dining tables, we even include a complimentary bottle of our specially formulated surface care cleaner, which works perfectly with the oil finish we use.

But here’s the good news: You don’t need to rely on fancy cleaners to maintain your furniture. A little regular care goes a long way. Here are some simple tips to help keep your timber and veneer pieces in top condition:

Wipe Up Spills Immediately – Always clean spills as soon as they happen to prevent any damage to the finish.

Use Coasters and Placemats – Protect the surface from hot items, spills, or scratches by using coasters for drinks and placemats for food.

Avoid Harsh Cleaners – Stick to a damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, silicone-based products, or anything that contains ammonia or citrus oils.

Dry the Surface After Cleaning – Never leave your furniture wet. Always dry the surface with a soft, clean cloth to avoid moisture damage.

Avoid Direct Sunlight and Extreme Temperature Changes To preserve the natural beauty of your timber furniture, it's important to keep it away from direct sunlight, heating vents, or areas with excessive temperature or humidity fluctuations. Exposure to harsh conditions can cause the wood to fade, crack, or warp over time.

Enjoy Your Furniture Without Worry

At Beeline Design, we’ve crafted our furniture to be as functional as it is beautiful. We know that life can be messy, especially in homes with kids or pets, but that’s exactly why we build our pieces to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use. With the right care, your Beeline Design furniture will continue to look and perform like new for many years to come.

With the durability of our hard-wearing finishes, the repairable nature of our designs, and a little maintenance love, you can enjoy your furniture without the constant worry. After all, it’s built to last—and meant to be used!
